Our Vision

We envision a culture where rescue isn’t necessary because all equines are valued, thriving, and treated with compassion.

Our Mission

New Mexico Horse Rescue at Walkin N Circles Ranch, Inc. is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization that rehabilitates, trains and finds adoptive homes for abandoned, abused, and neglected equines. Since 2002, we’ve remained committed to providing all rescued equines with new beginnings and productive lives with caring adopters. We are also dedicated to educating the community on responsible equine care and handling to help ensure safe, healthy futures for all equines.

Walkin N Circles Ranch is licensed, regulated and inspected annually by the New Mexico Livestock Board and accredited by the Global Federation of Animal Sanctuaries (GFAS). Our herd number can vary, but we generally care for nearly 50 horses on the ranch, and several more in foster care. The majority of horses that come to us have been seized by the Livestock Board due to abuse, neglect or abandonment. We also occasionally take horses surrendered by individuals who can no longer care for their horse(s).

The ranch is governed by a board of directors who oversees day-to-day operations with the assistance of an onsite ranch manager and the help of more than 100 volunteers. Volunteers give their experience, skills, talents and time to care for horses, maintain the facilities and fund the ranch. We utilize University of California, Davis Best Practices for Horse Rescues and natural horsemanship to guide our work.

Tours of the ranch are available Tuesday through Saturday by appointment. Reserve your tour by calling us at (505) 286-0779.
